About

Valeria Morales is a Puertorrican Product Designer based in Philadelphia, PA. She is currently a senior at Drexel University, expected to graduate in June 2023. She is majoring in Product Design and minoring in Graphic Design as well as User Experience Interactive Design. During her six month co-op she was employed by the Interior Design team working full time for the Office of Capital Projects at Princeton University. Valeria loves to create; she often makes fun things from different types of recycled materials that are visually and physically pleasing. She is a visually impaired designer who wants to be an advocate for inclusive and universal design as well as designing with the planet in mind. With 200/20 vision plus near and far sightedness, she has always had to find quick solutions when not being able to read text on signs, menus, directions and warnings on products, screens, etc. and wants to bring more light to the visually impaired community in the design world. She wants to create more environmentally friendly products and is interested in making high-tech toys, furniture, and art. She believes in the potential of design in technology to help create a seamless connection and pleasurable experience between humans and objects. She also thinks that design can pragmatically tackle complex problems with tactical, well-thought-out solutions, and that it is always possible to bring intellectual ideas to life. She loves every step of the process and sees failures as lessons for what needs to be improved. Valeria receives a sense of accomplishment from making functional objects that improve peoples lives, even if it is just with a smile.
